The Nanakshahi Calendar

The Nanakshahi Calendar is a solar calendar associated with the Sikh tradition, consisting of 12 months—Chet, Vaisakh, Jeth, Harh, Savan, Bhadon, Asu, Katak, Maghar, Poh, Magh, and Phagun. The calendar follows the solar year, with each month beginning around a fixed date in the Gregorian calendar, generally from March through February. The circular chart shows the relationship between the Nanakshahi months and their corresponding Gregorian months, making it easier to understand the timing of Sikh religious and historical observances. It should not be presented as an Islamic or Chishti Nizami calendar, as the Chishti Nizami tradition follows the Islamic Hijri calendar for religious dates and observances.
